Awesome. Take your time and don't rush it. Post if you have questions.

What about doing an IP scan to see if it's using a different IP address?

I tried this ftp access tutorial on the Leapster GS explorer and I got into developer mode but when I try to ftp it gives me the "connection refused". However, if I ssh or sftp to it I get a prompt! The only issue is that root requires a password to login.   I can use the system normally except neither LeapPad Connect nor LeapPad Manager can access the device.  Does anyone know the login info for either of these prompts or how to "reflash" the system back to the non-dev state? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hmmm I have never heard of a password on one and not sure the best way to go about trying to find out what it is. You can try connecting to the PC software, if the Leapster supports that and see if that will remove the flag. There might also be a recovery mode like on the LeapPad 2 where if yo hold down certain buttons on bootup, it will go into recovery. You can then connect to the PC software and it will do a firmware restore.

I posted a link to an app I made that lets you toggle between dev mode on the device. This needs to be installed through the LeapPad Manager app though first. I also don't know if it will work on the Leapster or not.

Thanks! On further inspection (and looking more closely at the IP address) I wasn't connecting to the Leapster.  It turns out that the Leapster is recognized by windows and loads the USB network adapter and assigns it an IP address.  The LeapFrog Connect software loads and tries to access the device but says it can't connect to it.  The LeapPad Manager software just gives the error "[Error] Can't connect to device!".  I even tried using OpenLFConnect, I can ping the device but OpenLFConnect can't find it.  The app is what I initially used to try to get dev access but now it seems to have made the Leapster non-communicative to the outside world.  I guess I should have read closer that it wasn't necessarily for the Leapster.

RE: [Tutorial] - FTP to LeapPad - nthndgrt - 06-09-2017

It appears that the default IP address for the Leappad Platinum is set to 192.168.0.255. I had trouble finding this since I had my IP scanner set to go up to 255, but it showed up when I scanned across multiple subnets. Anyway, I am still stuck in dev mode. When trying to connect via FTP, I am getting some errors. When using WinSCP, I get this error: The requested address is not valid in its context. When I try FileZilla, I get this error: Connection attempt failed with "WSAEADDRNOTAVAIL - Cannot assign requested address".

I have tried changing my IP on the adapter to a few different numbers since I thought maybe it had something to do with being 192.168.0.1 but no such luck.

I also get a response timeout when trying to ping the IP address.

I also tried automatically getting an assigned IP address. The adapter is a DHCP client on 10.0.0.3 and assigns me 10.0.0.1. The LeapPad is 10.0.0.7. Still no luck.
