Innotab 2 easy question I hope - Circlemaster - 11-24-2016 Hi, I am hoping that somebody can assit me with my question. My daughter had an Innotab 2 brought second hand which came with an SD card that contain games and videos installed. She has now broken it and it is completely dead. If I buy her a replacement Innotab 2 (second hand) and insert the original SD card from the old console will the games and video work?? Many thanks. RE: Innotab 2 easy question I hope - h0ppal0ng - 11-24-2016 Maybe, if it had cartridge games, .bin files then they would work. But if they are the vetch downloadable games then they wouldn't. And its a similar kind of thing with the video files, it all depends if they were downloaded or someone just put them on a memory card. Some were 'backups' from cartridges, but the majority were from downloads. I think the videos were also a mixture, some downloaded and some converted and put onto the card. RE: Innotab 2 easy question I hope - Deak Phreak - 11-24-2016 Yea, cartridge games would work, but the downloads you would of had to pull them off the console first. They are not stored on the SD card, so inserting the SD card into another device would not have them on it. This is one reason I created my Spiffy Hack which allows you to back up your games from the device to the SD card. RE: Innotab 2 easy question I hope - Circlemaster - 11-25-2016 Many thanks Deak Phreak, out of interest does the 'Spiffy Hack' allow downloaded games (as opposed to cartridges) be stored on an SD card. If it does then are the downloaded games then bonded to the original device or would they work on another console if the original was dead? Also (sorry for another question) would the backed up cartridge games '.bin' files work on a console running standard firmware or would it need to be flashed with a custom version? RE: Innotab 2 easy question I hope - h0ppal0ng - 11-25-2016 yea, but you would need to know how to add them to the database, and some of them also need unzipping to work. The spiffyhack backs them up but then you have to add them to the other hacked innotab. But theres no easy way you for you to get them from the dead console. The cartridge (.bin) files would work on an unhacked innotab RE: Innotab 2 easy question I hope - Deak Phreak - 11-25-2016 Yup, you need to flash a modified firmware to the console first before you can run the games "Assuming you have them" from the SD card. RE: Innotab 2 easy question I hope - Circlemaster - 11-25-2016 Hi H0ppal0ng/Deak Phreak, Thank you both for your advice and taking the time to help, I will need to get a SD card reader to check out what is actually on the card (may take me a while as busy with other stuff at the moment). Once I get hold of one, can I view the files with Windows or does it need to be a Linux box? RE: Innotab 2 easy question I hope - h0ppal0ng - 11-25-2016 windows is fine for that. in the LNN folder, you will then see MOVIE folder and also APPS folder for the games (cartridge games that is) RE: Innotab 2 easy question I hope - Circlemaster - 11-27-2016 Thanks H0ppal0ng. |
