No, you have to flash the same firmware or you could brick it because the filesystem could be different. I am unsure how yours could be the latest when there is a v46 available unless yours is not a USA tablet.

I'll try the Lodge update again tonight to see if anything changes. I picked it up at Walmart so it's as USA as you can get It did have a sticker on it that said "new for 2015". Maybe I'll go out to another store to see if I could find an older unit. You are right in stating this is a "plus" but I thought that just meant it came with rechargeable batteries.

Ok if yours is indeed an innotab 3s + then that firmware in the thread should work fine. If you don't want to check for an update then you don't have to, only if there is no available firmware for your version. You can always try to fix the bricked one by following my tutorial too.

Just wanted to follow-up. The F/W on the new innotab 3s+ was 1669.45.40516 - I decided to try flashing with 45.40516 from this site - worked perfect!

the number before should not matter as long as the rest matches. It will not allow it to flash if the firmware signature is different. Glad it worked.
