There is a Virtual Keyboard.swf however your device is only capable of running 1 swf at a time, unless you can find a way of calling the keyboard as an object from within the notepad app (Please let me know if you do.)
There is a video around of a Leappad multitasking but I have no more information than is shown in the video.
the GS should be able to do multitasking... both the background and the home menu are SWF files
