Don't blame you on the platform choice by the way. I was fixed on Windows for the PC and heavily invested in Unix/Linux on the work side and hated Macs and all they stood for for many years. Still do by the way, but an SSD, top spec MacBook is actually a quite nice piece of kit except if you're trying to write linux scripts and all of the useful special characters are missing!!! However, it has taken me a good few months to start to get familiar with the "differences" and am still not totally won over. No other apple equipment is allowed in the house!
If I had time I'd offer to write a Java version for you, but in my current circumstances that would be likely to be yet another project on the list that never gets done. Turns out that Wine is not prepared to recognised USB ports, so I may well have to dig out the PC. Luckily haven't converted it to Linux yet!
LOL I am the same way with apple products, but if I did have to have one, it would probably be a macbook. That is strange about the permission issue with the banner. Unsure if I am able to replicate it or not to try and debug.
I know how it is when projects pile up. I already have my hands full with all my websites and its hard to keep track of everything going on as well as everything at home. Its very good that I don't get stressed easily
